Gift Certificant balance not recognized

    I have a gift certificate ane after I made the first purchase for less than the full amount, I logged out and then attempted to make a second purchase using some of the balance. I get the following message:
    The coupon you entered is not valid. and it also now says:Your coupon code is : Store credit with a delete button above the field to enter the coupon code.
    What setting needs to be adjusted for this to work?

    It sounds like the gift certificate has been automatically converted to a balance.  In awocoupon > configuration >  balance, this setting:


    If you do not want it to be automatically converted, set it to no.  And then you can keep using the gift certificate code

    It is set to Yes.
    It even shows a balance on the front end module Gift Card Balance. But for some reason it won't accept the code when entered in the shopping cart.

    That is because after the first use, it has been converted to a balance.  So the code is not valid anymore, the value is now in the customer's store credit.

    Please tell me how to set up the gift certificate so that if it is partially used for one purchase, one can use the balance for another purchase.

    I think you should set the above configuration to 'no'.  What is happening is the customer is using the gift certificate, and the rest of it is being added to the customer balance.  This means the gift certificate is not valid any more as it is now part of the customer balance.

    The balance is not lost, simply transferred to a different format.
