Unable to customize coupon code error description

I am unable to customize coupon code error description.
I enter a customized message, click apply or save, and whatever I entered is wiped out.
I've tried it in Google Chrome and Firefox in case it was a browser issue - which it doesn't seem to be.

You can also go to global configuration and turn on debug mode then try to save again. If there is a database error it will be displayed.

Yes... the other configurations save, but those one's don't. I can't tell what's wrong using the Debug. A whole lot of messages appear but it doesn't look like errors.
What now? I just purchased this today.

Is the message at the bottom or in place of the content? If in place then there is an error and need to see what the error is.

The message is at the bottom. There is nothing in place of the content.
