buy x get y without product quantity in x box

using awocoupon pro 1.52 joomla 1.5.25 and virtuemart 1.1.19

Hi, What I am trying to do is set up buy more than $79.98 and receive 1 free item. However the buy x dialogue requires a quantity. Using a quantity is causing multiple free items, is there a way to not use the quantity in the "x" box?

In buy x get y coupon, you can use this field "Maximum Discount Qty" to limit the number of discounts. If set to 1, then customer is limited to 1 discount within that shopping session.

And no, the buy x get y feature requires a quantity.
