Questions before buying Pro version

I have been lurking here for awhile and I am impressed with the support provided.
We want to now purchase the Pro version but based on past messages, I have the following trivial questions;

1. Is a shipping fee still levied when a gift certificate is purchased - or is this now resolved?

2. Once a gift certificates purchase is confirmed, is there an email together with the gift certificate emailed to the buyer?

1) There is no real option in virtuemart to bypass shipping / product, so here are 2 solutions, 1 requires editing the code:

2) Yes, once order is confirmed, an email is sent to the buyer with the gift certificates. if you have not already seen it, there is a mini blog on gift certificates:

We also provide our customers the option to pay money via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) - offline and at their own time. How will the email with the gift certificate now work?

By default the email is sent out when the order status is in the confirmed stage. This can be changed in the configuration screen. When an order is put in that is pending payment, it is put in the 'pending' stage. Once you manually move it to the confirmed stage, the automatic email is triggered.

That is also what I thought! However, I seems to have a problem with sending emails to customers upon change of order status. I have just posted a thread on VirtueMart Forum about this:
