If a user puts product A in their cart I'd like to discount the entire cart 20% automatically. My thought was I could do this with a coupon if it could automatically add the coupon if product A was in the cart. Can AWO do this? I thought it would, but my set up wasn't applying a discount...

The coupon functionality you are asking about can be configured:
Discount Type: Overall
Percent or Total: Percent
Value: 20
Product List Selection: Product A
This will work as long as the customer enters the coupon. Awocoupon does not automatically add coupons to the customer's cart.
