Problem with coupons and tax

We currently use AWOCoupon with Hikashop and Taxcloud (latest versions) and are having a problem with fixed amount coupons zeroing out tax.

For example:

Product total: $21.99

Coupon value: $30

Tax: $1.21

Total with Coupon: $1.21

I've tested changing the settings in the configuration and coupon itself. Nothing seems to change the total being $1.21

How do we make sure this order total is $0?

In awocoupon->configuration, did you set discount before tax to no for the type of coupon you are using, gift certificate or normal coupon?

Perhaps taxcloud is bypassing this setting somehow?
