struggle with referral rules, please give an example

I'm trying to set up reward rules so that a SPONSOR and a friend both get a reward when FRIEND places their FIRST order of $50 or more.

How is this possible? I read through your examples and spent a few hours trying to get this to work.
So I have 2 rules one for sponsor and one for friend. Bot are order rules with a min of $50 per order and Order Number to trigger rule =1

But this only works when BOTH place an order of $50 or more. Do I need to group them? I don't want the sponsor to have to place an order of $50 first before both get a reward.... ONLY the friend needs to place an order of $50 and then BOTH get a reward.

Can you please give an example of how this scenario can be achieved?

yes that is how I have set it up.

Can you please let me know all setting to achieve the scenario I described:

Only on first order of friend (with min. of $50 order total value), both Sponsor and friend get a $5 discount.

Every time a new friend orders through sponsor link and 1st order total is min. $50, both get a $5 discount.
