Gift Certificate balance on front end is always 0 (zero)

    Hello,
    As the subject says, the balance that shows up on the front end is always zero. Everything's fine on the backend and I've enabled "Gift Certificate Balance" to Yes for both options in the configuration on the back end. The only thing I've been able to find on the forum is the post below but it doesn't really apply anymore.

    Hello,

    The balance is reflected one of 2 ways:
    - the customer has manually added a coupon to their account balance, as shown in the third image of this blog:

    - the customer has used a gift certificate at checkout and after usage there was a remaining balance, which has now been added to their balance

    Have either of these been done in the account you are looking at?
