Gift Card Balance?

I've searched the site, and haven't clearly found anything that states that if a gift certificate is used partially, the remaining balance is stored and the remaining amount can be used if the same code is used again? Is this the case or is the balance gone if it isn't fully used in the purchase of the item?

Do I need to enable something in virtue mart to accept the gift certificate codes? It's accepting the coupon codes but none of the gift certificates?

no you do not. If it is accepting the coupon codes then it should also be accepting the gift certificates. In order to figure out where the error is go to awocoupon->configuration and change the error messages to something identifiable.
