Free shipping over a certain spend

Is it possible to create a coupon that removes the shipping charge once a certain order level has been reached, in my case £35.00?

yes, you can create a free shipping coupon with the pro version.

If you wanted it to be automatic, this is built right into Virtuemart. In the admin section, go to components->virtuemart->store->edit store and set the "Minimum Amount for Free Shipping".
