Combine same coupon code for Multiple Categories AND Multiple Products (not in those categories)

I need to create a coupon that does the following:
1. Manual coupon code DRESS10
Applies to: 5 different categories
Applies to: 3 additioanl produts (not in those categories)

I see I can create a 'parent coupon', but I'm confused on exactly how to do that please help!

You would create a coupon for each:

Coupon a: applies to 5 categories
Coupon b: applies to 3 products

Then create a parent coupon with code DRESS10, where you add coupons a and b and set process type to 'all that apply'.
