I see that this extension does discount before tax, is there a demo backend so I can test this functionality? This does not exists in the free version.

If there is no demo version can I confirm the working

    I have VAT of 21%

I want to provide a discount coupon of 15% before tax

    Base price is 100

So the discount will be 15 and the VAT will be calculated on the modified base price of 85? Apparently it is illegal (not confirmed) to discount after VAT in the Netherlands and you cant discount tax.

    Thanks for the demo

The option to 'discount before tax' as per your screen shot is for VM1, not VM2, that option is not in VM2 if I am not mistaken, hence why I am looking for an extension to do that

I found the setting in the configuration for 'discount before tax' for coupons, but it makes no difference. I have created a VAT rule of +21%, created a coupon for 20% discount (sXGcULRVw), applied the configuration of 'discount before tax' in the configuration, and created a product (Product Teste) with a base price of 100 (i.e sales price of 121)

I apply the discount, and it SHOULD be 20, but it is still giving a total discount of 24.2 which is 20% of the whole

Which is what VM2 does out the box.. am I being dense and missing something out here?

    Hello,

The total discount when using a percentage coupon is the same if before or after tax, see calculation:
    https://awodev.com/blog/virtuemart-coupon-error-discount-before-tax#background

What will change is the amount allocated for tax. Now if you did an amount discount, the order total will change depending on if before or after discount.

I'm from Canada and when vendors offer coupons, the discount is to be applied to product total and tax is to be calculated after. We are running the latest version of VM2.0.20b and the current math is:

    $577.60 - Product prices result
    $144.40 - 25% coupon
    $69.31 - 12% tax (calculated on $577.60)
    $502.51 - Total

I'm wondering if this component will allow the following calculation:

    $577.60 - Product prices result
    -$144.40 - 25% coupon
    ---------------
    $433.20 - Subtotal minus discount
    $51.98 - 12% tax
    ---------------
    $485.18 - Total

    Hello,

Yes you can do this with the pro version. In awocoupon configuration, you would have to set calculate discount before tax to yes.

You can test it out on the demo site:
