    Hello Gentlemen

thank you for implementing the buy x get y for free on VM 1.1 with automatic add to cart

We are currently running Joomla 1.5.26 + VM 1.19 (www.rarenoiserecords.com)

    with

    - VM_flexible dropdown cart (by flexible web design) and
    - onepagecheckout module (by polishedgeek)

We are trying to implement the following:

If Customer buys physical product (child product X)
Two other products are added to his cart automatically (children products Y1 and Y2)

Y1 and Y2 are chldren products with downoads attached.

we do not seem to be able to get this to work (e.g. nothing is added to the cart)

We have followed your main instructions on https://awodev.com/blog/buy-x-get-y-joomla-guide to set the coupon up

Please advise on how we may proceed

    Kindest regards

    Giacomo Bruzzo

    Hello,

The automatic add to cart will not add 2 separate products, it will only add one of the get y with a quantity. When setting up the buy x get y, did you tick the checkbox "Automatically add to cart 'Get Y' product"?

    Hello,

I believe you said your get y product has item attributes? If this is the case, then this is the reason it is not added automatically, it cant guess the attributes the customer needs.

    Hello

item attributes are not chosen by the user! they are not choosable / custom attributes (like size) but simply general descriptive attributes like any product.

choice of product is not dependent on them. this is not the problem

would it be possible for you to check our joomla backend?

    regards

Ok, I took a look and the problem seems to be the onepagecheckout by polished geek. If I disable the module and use the coupon in normal virtuemart checkout, it works, the product is added automatically and fully discounted.

Looking at it, it seems the onepagecheckout tries to discount the coupon code through ajax, maybe this is where the problem is. It might be better to put the coupon code section into a normal form, submit it to virtuemart and let the page refresh.

    Hi there,

thank you for the swift answer

ouch - this is what I feared could the ajax logic be changed to better interact with awo coupon pro? You will probably answer that it is a matter for polished geek to deal with - problem is, their onepagecheckout is end of life.

another route might be to work with rupostel's one page checkout - what is your experience of that w.r.to Awo coupon pro?

    Cheers!

    Hello,

I just tested this on rupostels onepage checkout, the latest, and it works. My experience is support is very good and fast. You could alter polished geeks's but as you said, no support moving on.

Ok I will have a conversation with them to understand what kind of work (and how long) we'd need to get their solution integrated (mostly a matter of css customisation)

I will then get in touch again with you

    regards

Transition is to different One Page Checkout is too complicated in the immediate. We'd rather focus on larger transition to VM 2 in future.

Solved the problem by using a different component (VM Bonus Products by daycounts)

    Cheers
